A guide to CD collecting About a year ago I began collecting CDs, I'd been wanting to start doing something of the sorts for a while, with the most obvious choice being vinyl as they're back in fashion at the minute and are pretty awesome. Unfortunately, being a student with very little room and money, it was a bit unrealistic to be able to afford a decent record player, storage for the records and to be able to grow my collection at a decent rate. So I turned to CDs, and I honestly couldn't be happier. Currently I have just over 125 CDs in my collection, all neatly alphabetised and sorted which go very nicely in a cheap CD shelf which doesn't take up too much room and cost me far less money than they're worth according to Discogs. For anyone who wants to start a music collection or simply wants a physical reminder of the music and artists they love, I would highly reccomend CDs. 50 of the saddest songs of all time I've been putting this one off for a while, simply because I've just been trying to be a bit more creative than listing sad songs, which realistically makes up the majority of my music library. But I've decided to just bite the bullet and do it, so here we are. There's a good mix in here as always, the majority are indie but I've chucked the odd rock, metal and pop song in there for the fun of it. Not every one of these is the most obviously devastating song (although there are plenty that are), but in their own way each one is truly heartbreaking. I've tried to stick to one song per artist but in a few places this just wasn't possible, but who cares? Just a quick content warning, there are mentions of mental health issues, suicide and drug use/ abuse, so just watch out in case you're sensitive to that. Gig Review: Yasmine and The Euphoria, Lunar Bird and Year of the Dog at Cardiff Castle My social media feeds over the last two weeks have been filled with nothing but everyone back at gigs for the first time, whether that be Gorillaz at the O2, one man and his dog at the local pub or Reading Festival. Every single time, I've been more jealous than the last, yet still trying my best to live vicariously through shaky camera footage and drunken screams. Until recently my first gig was going to be Biffy Clyro, then it was XL Life this Friday, but ultimately it ended up being a grassroots music night at Cardiff Castle on Saturday, and it was 10 times better than I could have expected.
